Light Is What Comes Next
Genesis opens in the dark.
Before the sunrise, before a single morning like this one, there was nothing to see. "The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters" (Genesis 1:2, NKJV).
Then God spoke.
"Then God said, 'Let there be light'; and there was light." (Genesis 1:3, NKJV)
He didn't wait for conditions to improve. He didn't wait for the room to brighten before He entered it. He spoke into the dark part first, and the dark part obeyed.
That's still how He works. The thing you haven't figured out yet. The season that still looks unformed. The part of your life you're quietly sitting with and haven't said out loud. That's exactly where His voice goes first. Not after you've cleaned it up. Not once it makes sense. First.
And notice what was already happening in verse two, before a single word was spoken: His Spirit was there, hovering. The dark was never empty of Him. It just hadn't heard Him yet.
So if this morning feels like verse two, take heart. Verse two isn't the end of the story. It's the part right before He speaks.
I wore the Suzie Light Blue Earrings for this one, and it felt right. That soft blue is the color of the sky in the first few minutes after the dark gives way, before the day gets loud, when the light is still new. It's a quiet reminder to carry with you: whatever you're waking up in, light is already on its way.
Light is what comes next.
That's your flare. Beautifully. Unique. Made on purpose.
